About Me
My name is Leonardo Anselmo.
I originally studied mathematics and considered a career in data analytics, but my interest in space, electronics, and technology ultimately pulled me toward engineering. That path led me to electrical engineering, where I found the combination of hardware, software, and mathematical problem-solving that I was looking for.
Today, I work as an Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineer on Durandal’s Advanced RF Team. My work focuses on embedded and RF systems, electronics and PCB design, prototyping, testing, product development, and helping move ideas from early requirements into functional hardware.
I am especially drawn to purposeful engineering and technologies that expand what people are capable of, whether through field-deployable systems, future space technologies, or something that has not yet been imagined.
Outside of engineering, I enjoy playing and making music, astronomy, cooking, traveling, 3D printing, and building personal projects simply for the enjoyment of creating things.

Experience
Electrical Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer - Durandal, Inc.
March 2026 - Present

• Develop laboratory, supplier, and manufacturing capabilities while supporting software, proposals, and field evaluations
Electrical Engineer, mmWave Engineer - Virginia Diodes, Inc.
January 2023 - March 2026
• Test and troubleshoot RF hardware at the component level
• Lab equipment familiarity (VNAs, scopes, amps, PSUs, etc.)
• Develop Python scripts + GUIs for test automation and RF data analysis
Electrical Engineering Intern - Mason and Hanger
May 2022 - August 2022
• Designed U.S. embassy electrical systems in Revit and AutoCAD
• Ensured NEC compliance and attended design meetings, including one on the field
• Learned real-world engineering workflow from design to delivery
Robotics & Embedded Systems - UVA Solar Car & MaRS Teams
August 2021 - May 2022
• Developed embedded systems, built a lithium car battery, and interfaced with solar panels on the UVA Solar Car team
• Wrote code for motor control, integrated hardware, and helped lift one of the biggest rocks in NASA Lunabotics history on the MaRS team
